The project forms part of the wider programme to rejuvenate the town centre within the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
The scheme centres on community and public realm spaces designed by LDA Design, alongside a new market pavilion providing a public café and WCs at the edge of the square. The pavilion was developed on a constrained triangular site shaped by traffic movement, bus routes, and incremental change over time.
The compact civic building replaces outdated facilities while maintaining a clear relationship with its surroundings. Its lightweight folded steel roof sits on a robust masonry structure, with natural ventilation provided via chimney stacks. Integrated water, power, lighting, and drainage serve both the pavilion and the wider market.
We worked with Studio Weave and the wider team to deliver the structural, civil, and building services design for the new public pavilion as a coordinated package aligned with the architectural intent.
