We have co-launched a not-for-profit initiative focused on accelerating the reuse of materials in the built environment.
Working alongside Buro Happold, Elliott Wood, Heyne Tillett Steel, Civic Engineers, and Whitby Wood, we have launched The Engineers Reuse Collective (tERC) — a not-for-profit initiative focused on accelerating the reuse of materials in the built environment, with the goal of achieving a Net Zero Carbon future.
The first of its kind, our collective is supported by The Institution of Structural Engineers. Through knowledge-sharing, roadmap production, advocacy and collaboration, we’re working to remove barriers and push for industry-wide adoption of the circular economy.
The built environment industry contributes around 25% of the UK’s carbon emissions, with embodied carbon making up a significant portion of this figure. By championing reuse and circular economy principles, tERC aims to drastically reduce carbon emissions while promoting sustainable practices across the sector.
Could your company be our next member? We’re looking for additional engineering practices to join the movement and help shape the future of sustainable construction.
If you’re passionate about making a positive impact and accelerating the transition to Net Zero, reach out to our lead Andy Yates (andy.yates@terc.org.uk) to get involved.
