Steve Webb has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal Institute of British Architects in recognition of his contribution to architecture through structural engineering.
Since co-founding Webb Yates with Andy Yates in 2005, Steve has helped shape the practice’s approach to structural design. His work consistently examines how structure can sit intrinsically within architecture, often exploring non-conventional materials and approaches aimed at reducing embodied carbon.
During this time, he has overseen three Stirling Prize shortlisted projects at Webb Yates, including 15 Clerkenwell Close and Niwa House. Alongside project work, he continues to contribute to the wider built environment through writing, speaking, and exhibitions in the UK and internationally.
The honour follows the Milne Medal, awarded to Steve in 2020 in acknowledgement of his role in continually challenging and redefining what is considered possible in structural design.
