Features: Elephant Park Pavilion

Richard Mayo joined a number of other experts for the Retail and Leisure Masterclass at Offsite Expo last week.

He talked about taking the benefits of offsite manufacture in the CLT and steel for our Elephant Park Pavilion project. The new pavilion sits at the heart of Lendlease's Elephant Park redevelopment.

Nestled among several existing trees, the Bell Phillips Architects designed scheme provides a public roof terrace, community space and refreshments kiosks, centred around a mature London plane tree in the heart of the park. The project utilises a screw pile foundation, to minimise the scheme’s impact on the tree roots, and a cross-laminated timber superstructure. A roof deck cantilevers over the walls, with a steel balustrade discreetly maximising structural efficiency.
