Plans for the £5m ancient crafts teaching hub at York Minister have now been submitted by the architect Tonkin Liu.

The Centre of Excellence for Heritage Craft Skills and Estate Management is part of a wider redevelopment of the cathedral’s 7ha precinct that is the biggest programme of planned works on the site for 150 years.

Selected as structural engineer of the new ‘world-class centre for research, education, and training’, we’ll be working alongside architect Tonkin Liu and heritage architect Donald Insall Associates for our client York Minster to design two educational buildings linked to York Minster.

If the proposal is approved, works will begin on site in 2022, with the new facilities operational and in use by 2023.
