Camden’s Cabinet has approved plans for the retrofit and refurbishment of Kentish Town Neighbourhood Space, designed by IF_DO Architects for the London Borough of Camden.
The scheme will repurpose the former Community Law Centre to create Camden’s first Neighbourhood Space. The building will include a local innovation hub, with affordable workstations and community event spaces arranged across three floors.
The project builds on the Civic Action Lab pilot currently operating at 2 Prince of Wales Road. It forms part of Camden’s wider Neighbourhood Spaces Programme, which supports the We Make Camden missions by creating inclusive spaces for local communities.
The retrofit will follow a whole-life carbon approach. Commissioned by Camden Council, Webb Yates’ building services team is analysing the existing building and providing specialist guidance on decisions that minimise carbon across the structure, aligned with Camden’s Climate Action Plan and the UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard.
