Webb Yates Engineers was appointed as structural engineers for Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up exhibition in the V&A. The dynamic and interactive exhibition gives visitors a compelling insight into the personal life of the renowned Mexican artist. Different galleries showcase several of her belongings including key self-portraits, costumes and items from her extraordinary wardrobe. The exhibition celebrates her Mexican culture and identity, allowing the viewer to experience intimate and personal details of her life story.

Our work focused on the design of the timber structure for the exhibition walls, base and roof. Working with the design team, we presented a number of viable options which enabled the exhibition to come to life.
