The multi-award-winning Hoover Building scooped up another prize at the RICS awards last night. Winning the award for ‘Design through Innovation’, the iconic building has taken on its latest chapter as a residential building accommodating 66 homes.

Sam Turner, Project Architect on the Hoover Building conversion comments, ‘The Hoover building is an icon and is admired by so many people, from passers-by to local residents and the wider architectural community. We feel very proud to have had the chance to re-establish its identity and put our stamp on the latest chapter in its story. We are so pleased to see our efforts and design approach being recognised. I had a fantastic evening and would like to thank the RICS for their hospitality and express my appreciation for the other entrants, all representing excellent and inspirational projects’

The judges said, ‘the most famous factory building in the UK was brought back into use through innovative and sensitive design. Previously empty and under threat, the integrated design resulted in the magnificent restoration of a cherished landmark and an attractive and successful residential scheme’.

The team at Interrobang and Webb Yates Engineers are delighted our expertise are being recognised across the industry.
